'The dishwasher can wait': seek professional wound care advice at the RIGHT time
Monday, 28 August 2023
This Wound Awareness Week, we're asking Australia to get wound care RIGHT! The RIGHT diagnosis and the RIGHT treatment at the RIGHT time.

If you're living with a wound, there are things you can do to make sure you receive the best possible advice.

Firstly, recognise the wound warning signs. If your wound is painful and hot, weeping, smells bad or is taking longer than 30 days to clear up, it's time to get some proper advice. Wound Awareness Week Champion Nelly Thomas explains more  with a little help from a familiar friend...

Secondly, understand where to go for advice. There are lots of sources of great wound care advice in your community - from wound care specialists to pharmacists. You'll find more information in our factsheet

With more than 450,000 Australians living with hard-to-heal wounds every year  at an annual cost to our budgets of $6.6 billion  it's more important than ever that we start getting wound care RIGHT.
