Brisbane event highlights challenges of chronic wound epidemic

On Wednesday, the Wound Awareness Week campaign hit Brisbane, with a flagship event at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital. The Week's Ambassador, Professor Fiona Wood AO, and guests were given a behind-the-scenes look at the hospital's world-class wound clinic courtesy of Dr Dianne Smith, Senior Medical Officer and longtime Wounds Australia member. Morning tea was served on the Doctors' Common Room roof terrace, where Professor Wood spoke about the challenges faced by 450,000 Australians living with chronic wounds and the clinicians who care for them. ![]() Guests included representatives from Wound Awareness Week sponsors Smith+Nephew, Molnlycke and Solventum, Wounds Australia Corporate Members Team Medical and Flavour Creations, clinicians including the RBWH wound clinic's Damian Williams, and Wounds Australia CEO Jeff Antcliff. |
